Power-Up Your Morning Routine For A Highly Productive Day

by | Jun 27, 2018 | Leadership

Mornings signify new beginnings and most of us wake up with high hopes for the day ahead. Still, even the captivating sunrise is not enough for some people to consider daybreak as their favorite time of the day. Some may even struggle to do anything useful and justify this behavior by saying that they are not “a morning person.”

However, if you are seriously pursuing success and excellence, the decision to be an early riser will prove to be worth it. Surveys show that a great number of CEO’s and executives start their day earlier than most people. Furthermore, various research studies have proven the correlation between morning routine and high productivity.

This move does not necessarily require a drastic lifestyle change. You can start with a simple resolve to wake up an hour or two earlier. The second step is establishing a solid morning routine that best suits your needs and lifestyle. The following suggestions may help you take advantage of the early hours of the day:

Stretch Those Muscles

Everybody knows the importance of daily exercise yet it is so easy to forego this activity as we go through our day. You may find it easier to stick to a fitness regimen by doing light exercises a few minutes after waking up. Just imagine the satisfaction you will feel as you tick it off your to-do lists so early in the day! You do not have to devote hours to achieve results. As long as you do it consistently, a few minutes of stretching those muscles can make a huge difference.

Observe Some Quiet Time

Your days can be so hectic that you may end up feeling drained and burned out sometimes. A tranquil morning sets the perfect mood for de-stressing activities such as praying and meditating. You may also listen to soothing music or do deep breathing exercises to calm your nerves and clear your mind.

Set Goals For The Day

Morning is a great time to set your goals as well as plan the strategies to maximize your productivity within the day. With your mind still fresh, you can easily prioritize your tasks and will help you manage your time well. Likewise, this practice will gear you up for the day and will likely motivate you to accomplish more.

Pursue Your Passions or Learn Something New

You may be someone who loves to paint or someone who has always dreamt of writing your own novel. It is hard to find the time for the things you are passionate about amidst busy days but you can devote some time for pursuing your interests in the morning. You can also allot some time for learning new skills such as playing a musical instrument or doing things you love such as reading.

Get Updates On The Latest Happenings

It is a must to keep track of what is going on around us yet following current events in the middle of the day may distract you from finishing important tasks. You can get updates with the latest happenings by allocating a few minutes in the morning for watching the news program or reading the newspaper.

Spend Time With Loved Ones

In a typical household on a weekday, morning is usually the only time when all family members are at home at the same time. It will be sad to waste this opportunity to interact with your spouse, bond with your kids, or chat with your parents. Spending quality time with loved ones can be as simple as catching up with one another, offering a word of encouragement, or sharing a hearty meal together.

Establishing an effective morning routine entails commitment that others may find very challenging. But just think of the many benefits you can gain from it and you may soon find yourself getting up as soon as the alarm clocks start ringing.
