Transformational Leaders Understand This One Concept

by | Feb 16, 2017 | Leadership

Truly transformational leaders—the ones that effect real, lasting change—understand the way that their time management affects everyone else’s time around them. When a transformational leader has their priorities in order, when they’re well-rested, and when they’re able to give more than they get, they’re able to transform the world, one person at a time.

This one transformational concept can be broken down into three main principles:

Don’t Run Yourself Ragged

As a transformational leader, you can’t run yourself ragged and expect to be able to give anything your all. The most influential leaders from all around the world all know that a well—no matter how deep it is—that runs dry is of no use to anyone.

In order to be an effective leader, a person must be willing and able to manage their time in such a way that allows for self-care. When you invest in yourself, you’re better equipped to invest in everyone else around you. It’s the definition of win-win.

Prioritize Your Values

Influential leaders not only know how not to run themselves ragged, but they also know how to prioritize their own values. They realize that while you might not have time to do everything, you do have time to do the right things.

When you have your values close at hand, it’s not hard to prioritize. You’ll learn to say no to things that aren’t in line with what you value, and your time will open up for the things that do matter most to you.

Give More Than You Get

Because leaders know how valuable and important their time is, they’re more than willing to give more of it than they get back.

They’ve made sure to prioritize their values, so they’re able to devote a considerable amount of time to the people that they’re leading. Great leaders have also prioritized taking care of themselves, so they’re replenished and ready to give of themselves to the people who need their help.

It all comes down to perfecting the skill of time management. The best leaders know that time isn’t money; it’s far more valuable.
